Cookie Policy
Last Updated: September 13, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Memollo (“Memollo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and browser storage when you visit or use memollo.com.
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
In Simple Words
Memollo uses Necessary technologies to operate the site, Functional technologies to remember certain preferences, and optional Analytics technologies to help us understand and improve how Memollo is used. Analytics is off until you choose to allow it.
We do not currently use Marketing technologies.
While you’re creating a Gift, we also temporarily store your in-progress work in your browser so you don’t lose it — see Local Gift Draft Storage below.
We do not sell your personal information.
1. What Cookies and Browser Storage Are
Cookies are small text files a website can store on your browser. Memollo also uses similar browser technologies:
- Local storage — used for your theme preference, cookie consent choice, and in-progress Gift draft
- IndexedDB — used only to hold draft Gift photos locally before you publish
In this policy we refer to all of these collectively as “cookies and browser storage.”
2. Categories We Use
Necessary
Required for Memollo to work: remembering your cookie consent choice, and saving your in-progress Gift draft as you build it. These are always active and aren’t affected by your Analytics choice.
Functional
Remembers a preference so you don’t have to reset it — currently just your light/dark theme.
Analytics (optional)
Helps us understand how people use Memollo — which pages are visited, general navigation and usage patterns, and website performance — so we can improve it. Off by default. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only load after you choose to allow Analytics (see How We Collect Your Consent below).
Marketing — not currently used
Memollo does not use marketing or advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or campaign-attribution storage (such as UTM parameters) today, and our cookie banner has no Marketing category for this reason. If that changes in the future, we’ll update this policy and our cookie banner before introducing it.
3. Cookies and Browser Storage Used by Memollo
These are the specific cookies and browser storage items Memollo itself currently uses:
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
memollo-cookie-consent | Necessary | Stores your Analytics consent choice so Memollo can remember and respect it | Until cleared, or a future consent-version update |
memollo-theme | Functional | Remembers your light/dark theme preference | Until changed or cleared |
memollo-draft-v1 | Necessary / Functional | Stores an unfinished Gift draft locally so you can continue creating it | Until the draft is published, discarded, or cleared |
memollo-photo-draft-v1 | Necessary / Functional | Stores draft Gift photos locally in your browser while you create a Gift | Until the draft is published, discarded, or cleared |
_ga | Analytics | Google Analytics — distinguishes visits and measures website usage | Typically up to 2 years |
_ga_<property-id> | Analytics | Google Analytics — stores property/session information | Typically up to 2 years |
_clck | Analytics | Microsoft Clarity — may recognize repeat visits | Typically up to 1 year |
_clsk | Analytics | Microsoft Clarity — may group page views into a session | Typically up to 1 day |
Analytics cookies are only created after you choose to allow Analytics. If you reject optional cookies, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity do not load. Analytics is also disabled on private Gift viewing and editing pages.
4. Local Gift Draft Storage
While you’re creating a Gift, Memollo temporarily stores your in-progress work in your browser so you don’t lose your progress if you navigate away or close the tab. This can include:
- Recipient and sender information you’ve entered
- Your message content
- Your selected theme
- Your selected music
- Other builder choices (occasion, current step, and similar in-progress state)
- Draft photos you’ve added, stored locally in your browser before publication
This draft data can include names, message text, and photos, so we do not treat it as anonymous. It stays in your own browser and is only sent to our servers when you save or publish your Gift.
Gift passcodes are not stored in persistent browser storage. A passcode you enter while creating a Gift is kept only temporarily while you are actively creating the Gift. It is not written to local storage and does not survive a page refresh or closed tab. If you resume a saved draft that had passcode protection enabled, you’ll be asked to re-enter the passcode.
5. Private Gift Viewing and Editing Pages
We do not load Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity on private Gift viewing or editing pages — the page a recipient opens to view a Gift, and the private link a creator uses to edit one. This applies regardless of your Analytics preference elsewhere on the site.
6. Analytics Services
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand general website traffic and usage, such as pages viewed, navigation patterns, device/browser information, approximate location, referral sources, and website performance.
Google Analytics loads only after you grant Analytics consent, and does not load on private Gift viewing or editing pages (see Section 5).
Google Analytics does not receive Gift messages, recipient or sender names, uploaded photos, access passcodes, edit links, or raw Stripe payment identifiers.
Microsoft Clarity
Memollo’s analytics setup also includes Microsoft Clarity, to help us understand usability — general interaction patterns like clicks, scrolling, and navigation. When Microsoft Clarity is enabled, it may set analytics cookies such as _clck and _clsk after Analytics consent is granted, following the same consent and private-page rules as Google Analytics above.
As with Google Analytics, Clarity is not intended to capture Gift messages, uploaded photos, or other sensitive Gift content, and does not load on private Gift viewing or editing pages.
Google and Microsoft each process information according to their own privacy policies.
7. Payments — Stripe
When you check out, Memollo redirects you to a secure Checkout page hosted by Stripe, on Stripe’s own domain. Any cookies used to process your payment are set by Stripe on that page, not on memollo.com.
Memollo does not directly store your complete credit or debit card information. Stripe processes information according to its own privacy and cookie practices.
8. Other Service Providers
Supabase provides our database and file storage. It operates entirely on our server side and does not create cookies or browser storage on your device.
Vercel hosts memollo.com. We use it for infrastructure only — Memollo does not currently use Vercel Analytics or Speed Insights.
For more on how Memollo processes personal information generally, see our Privacy Policy.
9. How We Collect Your Consent
Memollo shows a cookie banner the first time you visit. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity do not load until you make a choice — Necessary technologies work regardless of what you choose.
From the banner, you can:
- Accept analytics — allow Necessary and Analytics technologies.
- Reject optional — use only Necessary technologies.
- Customize — open cookie preferences and choose Analytics on or off.
Your choice is stored in your browser so we can remember and respect it on future visits, and so the banner doesn’t reappear on every page.
You can change your preference at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer of any page.
If you withdraw Analytics consent after previously granting it, Memollo stops future analytics collection and removes the analytics cookies it can remove from the memollo.com domain (such as _ga and _ga_<property-id>). Some cookies Google or Microsoft set on their own domains are outside our reach to delete directly — you can clear those through your browser settings at any time.
10. Managing Cookies Through Your Browser
You can also manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings, which typically let you:
- View, delete, or block cookies
- Restrict third-party cookies
- Clear local storage
If you block or delete Necessary cookies or local storage, some Memollo features — including saving your Gift draft — may not work correctly.
11. International Users
Memollo is operated from British Columbia, Canada, and may be accessed by users in the United States and other countries. Privacy and cookie requirements may differ depending on where you live, and information processed by our service providers may be transferred to or processed in countries other than the one you live in, as described further in our Privacy Policy.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information collected through cookies and browser storage, including the right to request access, correction, or deletion, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. These rights may be subject to exceptions under applicable law.
To make a privacy request, contact us at hello@memollo.com.
13. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as Memollo develops, our technologies change, or legal requirements change — for example, if we add or remove a service provider, or introduce a new category of technology. When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
